Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and accept responsibility for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@self-publish.ai of any unauthorized use.

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by emailing support@self-publish.ai. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms with 30 days notice, except for severe violations requiring immediate action.

Self-Publish.ai provides an integrated publishing platform including manuscript editing and analysis, cover design and interior formatting, EPUB and PDF export, publishing preparation and metadata management, marketing copy tools, distribution integrations, audiobook narration (where available), and royalty tracking (where available).

Self-Publish.ai is a platform and toolset. We are not a publisher, literary agent, or distributor. We do not acquire rights to your work, make editorial decisions on your behalf, or guarantee commercial success of any book.

"Your Content" means any manuscripts, images, cover designs, audio files, metadata, and other materials you upload or create on the Platform. You retain full ownership of all intellectual property rights in Your Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to Self-Publish.ai.

You grant Self-Publish.ai a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate the Platform and provide services to you. This license exists only while Your Content is on the Platform and terminates when you delete it (subject to a 90-day backup period).

We will never use Your Content to train machine learning models, AI systems, or any automated systems, whether owned by Self-Publish.ai or third parties.

Content generated through Platform tools (cover concepts, descriptions, marketing copy) is owned by you. However, similar outputs may be generated for other users with similar inputs, and you are responsible for reviewing all generated content before publication.

You may export Your Content at any time in standard formats (DOCX, EPUB, PDF). Upon account deletion, you have 30 days to export before permanent removal.

You agree not to

• Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights

• Upload defamatory, threatening, or hateful content, or content that exploits minors

• Distribute malware or attempt unauthorized access to the Platform

• Use the Platform for unlawful purposes or scrape/data-mine beyond normal usage

• Resell or sublicense access to the Platform

• Upload fully automated content and represent it as originally authored

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate this policy with notice and opportunity to respond, except in cases involving illegal activity or imminent harm.

Self-Publish.ai offers free and paid subscription plans billed monthly or annually. Paid plans auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Subscription tiers

• Free: $0/month

• Basic: $19/month or $15/month billed annually ($180/year)

• Pro: $39/month or $31/month billed annually ($372/year)

• Studio: $79/month or $63/month billed annually ($756/year)

Credits system

The Platform uses a credit-based system for AI features. Each subscription tier includes a monthly credit pool and a daily refresh credit pool. These are separate pools:

• Monthly pool: Granted at the start of each billing cycle. Unused monthly credits expire at the end of the cycle on Free and Basic plans. Pro subscribers retain unused monthly credits for up to 3 months. Studio subscribers retain unused monthly credits for up to 12 months.

• Daily refresh credits: A separate allocation that resets every 24 hours. Daily refresh credits do not roll over. They exist to ensure no user is fully blocked from the Platform when their monthly pool is depleted.

• Top-up credits: Additional credits purchased separately. Top-up credits never expire and remain in your account until used.

Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable between accounts.

Refunds

• Monthly plans: Full refund available within 7 days of payment, provided less than 20% of the monthly credit pool has been consumed. Daily refresh credit usage does not count toward this threshold.

• Annual plans: Full refund available within 30 days of payment, provided less than 20% of the monthly credit pool for the first month has been consumed.

• Top-up credit purchases: Non-refundable once purchased.

Founding Author Rate

The first 100 users who purchase an annual subscription during the founding window (ending April 30, 2026, or when 100 annual subscribers are reached, whichever comes first) lock in their subscription rate for life. This rate remains fixed as long as the subscription stays active and is not cancelled. If a Founding Author subscription is cancelled, the founding rate is forfeited and cannot be reinstated. Users subscribing after the founding window closes will be charged at the standard annual rate.

Referral credits

When you refer a new user who completes signup and verifies their email, you receive 100 bonus credits. The new user also receives 100 bonus credits. Referral credits are added within 24 hours of the referral completing signup. Referral credits are subject to fair use. Accounts showing signs of fraudulent referral activity, including but not limited to self-referral, use of fake accounts, or bulk automated signups, will be suspended.

Annual plans

Annual plans are prepaid for 12 months. If cancelled during the term, refund eligibility is governed by the refund policy above. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Upgrades take effect immediately, with a credit delta granted for the remainder of the current cycle. Rolled-over credits are retained when downgrading but are subject to the lower tier's rollover policy going forward.

Account deletion

Upon account deletion, unused subscription credits are forfeited. Top-up credits are non-refundable, but a refund may be requested within 7 days of the most recent top-up purchase.

The Platform may integrate with or facilitate connections to third-party services, including but not limited to:

• Retail distribution platforms (e.g., Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble)

• Payment processing services (e.g., Stripe)

• Print-on-demand services

• Email marketing platforms

Your use of third-party services is governed by those services' own terms and privacy policies. Self-Publish.ai is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of any third-party service. Self-Publish.ai does not guarantee that third-party integrations will remain available and will provide reasonable notice if an integration is discontinued.

Self-Publish.ai respects intellectual property and complies with the DMCA. To report infringement, send a written notice to support@self-publish.ai including: identification of the copyrighted work, location of the infringing material, your contact information, a good faith statement, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate, and your signature.

Counter-notifications may be submitted to the same address per 17 U.S.C. Section 512(g). Accounts of repeat infringers will be terminated.

Our Privacy Policy (available at self-publish.ai/privacypolicy) governs data collection and use and is incorporated into these Terms. We never sell personal information, never use manuscripts to train AI, collect only necessary data, and comply with GDPR and CCPA.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. SELFPUBLISH.AI DOES NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE SERVICE. We do not guarantee any publishing outcome including sales, revenue, or bestseller status.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SELFPUBLISH.AI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100 USD.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Self-Publish.ai Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims arising from your use of the Platform, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or disputes with third parties connected through the Platform.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Before filing any dispute, contact support@self-publish.ai to attempt informal resolution for 30 days. Unresolved claims go to binding individual arbitration under AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules in Washington, DC.

CLASS ACTION WAIVER: Claims may only be brought individually, not as part of any class or representative proceeding. You may opt out of arbitration by writing to Self-Publish.ai Inc., 712 H St NE, PMB 817, Washington, DC 20002 within 30 days of accepting these Terms.

The Platform is operated from the United States. International users consent to data transfer to the US, subject to Privacy Policy protections. EEA/UK/Swiss users are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protection rights in your jurisdiction.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Self-Publish.ai. If any provision is unenforceable, it will be modified minimally and remaining provisions continue. Failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; Self-Publish.ai may assign them in connection with a merger or acquisition with notice. Self-Publish.ai is not liable for failures beyond reasonable control (force majeure).
